Bedford Sports & Hockey Centre is a facility comprising two full sized, sand dressed, floodlit, artificial turf sports surfaces. The pitches are served by a pavilion which houses four changing rooms, toilets (including disabled toilet),a bar, lounge, education room and offices. It is the home of Bedford Hockey Club.

Originally conceived by the Beddford Local Sports Council, BS&HC was established in September 1993. The set up resulted from the financial support and expertise provided by Bedford Borough Council, the (then) Bedfordshire County Council, Sport England, The Harpur Trust, Charles Wells Brewery and Bedford Hockey Club.

A Charity (No: 1052843), Bedford Sports Foundation, was registered soon after to run the Sports & Hockey Centre, providing recreation and leisure facilities for the benefit of the general public. In practical terms, BSF's remit is to ensure that the Centre is made available for bookings, that it remains financially viable, that the facilities are maintained and pitches upgraded as they wear out.
